EAIMS

European ATM Information Management Service

Ensuring access to consolidated, consistent and operationally validated data in a seamless and transparent way from a single access point.

The European ATM Information Management Service (EAIMS) is a EUROCONTROL Network Manager (NM) strategic project to deliver a consistent, accurate and up-to-date ATM data set that is the reference data for all ATM actors in the European context.

Our goal is to ensure access to consolidated, consistent and operationally validated data in a seamless and transparent way from a single access point in support of ARO/AIS/ASM/ATFCM/ATS, flight operations and airport operations.

Upgrades

The project is an evolution and progressive integration of the two NM systems: the European AIS Database (EAD) and Centralised Airspace and Capacity Data (CACD), used for support NM's flight and flow systems. The project has two main phases, corresponding to progressive levels of integration.

Phase 1

The first phase aims to improve the quality of the data in the CACD system and to automate the data management processes by:

  • bringing the EAD and the CACD closer, including:
    • alignment of the two data models;
    • semi-automatic download of EAD data into CACD;
    • process improvement for dealing with inconsistencies;
  • automating the RAD process;
  • automating the download of aircraft performance data (from BADA).

Phase 2

The second phase aims at achieving the final goal of having a seamless integration of the upstream-downstream processes and building the reference data set by:

  • integrating in a single system the processes of all actors involved in the provision of airspace data and services, including the processes for operational validation of the data;
  • providing an always up-to-date ATM data set that can be used as a reference for all ATM related activities, including the flight and airport operations;
  • providing services/tools to help air navigation service providers (ANSPs) meet their ICAO and Single European Sky (SES) obligations, such as compliance with the Aeronautical data quality (ADQ) regulation.

Benefits

By providing a reference data source for all ATM related activities, the project is expected to reduce significantly the inconsistencies between the systems of different stakeholders, contributing to an increase of data quality at all levels, and an increase in safety, performance and operational efficiency

Additionally, the project is expected to deliver cost savings resulting from the high level of process automation.

The project is in line with activities taking place under the SESAR Deployment Programme (SDP) and the Common Projects (CP1).
