Network Operations Report – January 2019

Traffic in January 2019 increased by 3.0% compared to January 2018 and was in line with the baseline forecast.

Four States added more than 50 flights daily to the network with Germany, Spain and Italy as the top contributors.

With the winter traffic level, en-route ATFM delays (9,265 min/daily) increased by 123.7% and airport ATFM delays (9,864 min/daily) decreased by 14.6% compared to January 2018.

There were, on average, 197 daily flights with an en-route ATFM delay of at least 15 minutes (+126.4% compared to January 2018).

Highlights

En-route:

  • High en-route capacity and staffing delays in Karlsruhe UAC.

Airport:

  • Wintry conditions impacted operations at several airports especially Amsterdam/Schiphol;
  • Airport capacity issues at Istanbul/Atatürk airport.

The average en-route ATFM delay per flight in the NM area in December was 0.36 min/flt, which is above the corresponding monthly guideline value of 0.14 min/flt.
