Industry Monitor - May 2018

The Industry Monitor is a regular briefing for EUROCONTROL Member States and associated organisations on the air transport and related industries.

It covers matters of relevance for understanding air transport statistics or preparing air transport forecasts.

In the latest Industry Monitor we focus on the 2.8% increase of European flights in May 2018, matching the baseline forecast published in February. The record-breaking growth rate was impeded only by industrial action throughout the month.

In other news, IATA expects European airlines to post 2018 profit of €7.4 billion, cutting its previous forecast by €2.4 billion. The price of Brent crude oil hit its highest level since November 2014, averaged €65 per barrel in May.
