The list below provides an overview of the key improvements implemented on 9 November 2017:
- Moldova- H24 Free Route Airspace (Phase 3) above FL095.
- Norway- HOPE - Harmonisation of Oslo Procedures and Environment - Phase 2.
- Switzerland - Transformation of Night ATS routes into Night DCT Segments.
- UK - Prestwick Lower Airspace - PLAS - Part 1; Swanwick Airspace Improvement Programme (SAIP) - Airspace Deployment 1 (AD1).
Thanks to the airspace enhancements implemented during AIRAC 1712 as well as the airspace design improvements put in place since AIRAC 1612 in connection with changing traffic patterns and structure, the additional, potential savings offered during the AIRAC cycle 1712 amount to 66,400 NMs flown less compared with the equivalent AIRAC cycle in 2016. This translates into 398 tons of fuel, or 1,328 tons of CO2, or € 332,000.
Based on the last filed flight plan indicator and as a result of the airspace design improvements put in place since AIRAC 1612 in connection with changing traffic patterns and the airline choices made, the actual gains calculated during the AIRAC cycle 1712 amount to 227 330 NMs flown less compared to the equivalent AIRAC cycle in 2016. This translates into 1,364 tons of fuel, or 4,546 tons of CO2, or € 1,137,000.
