EUROCONTROL Guidelines on Final Target Distance Indicator (FTDi) for Distance-Based Separation on Final Approach

This document provides guidelines on the Final Target Distance Indicator (FTDi) for Distance-Based Separation (‘DBS’) tool solution on Final Approach, supporting the Approach and Tower Air Traffic Controller for the delivery of separation or spacing.

This function also supports the operational use of advanced distance-based separation scheme, such as RECAT-EU/-PWS for wake turbulence or ‘iROT/ROCAT’ for arrival runway occupancy time.
The guidelines are proposed in view of supporting the local implementation at an Airport and the necessary upgrades to the Approach and Tower Air Traffic Control Procedures and Systems.
