Summer to date traffic vs the same period in Summer 2025 remains 2.3% higher with 19% fewer ATFM delays – and with 2.8 million minutes of en-route ATFM delays having now been saved this year by the continued application of capacity/weather-based measures (CWBO) in case of adverse weather (including around 200K in Week 34).
Other Week 34 key data included:
- 72% arrival punctuality, 2.6 percentage points (pp) lower than both Week 33 and the equivalent week in 2025
- 3.44 minutes per flight of ATFM delays, up 7% vs 2025 – split between en-route (2.71 mins) and airport (0.73 mins)
- 55,062 flights delayed by ATFM restrictions (7,866 flights a day and 22% of all flights)
- A further three traffic records were broken as Armenia & Yerevan Airport and the Ryanair Group exceeded their previous daily records (all set this summer) of flights managed/operated – with Ryanair’s 3,985 flights flown on 21 August beating their own network traffic record set on 30 June of 3,958 flights.
The vast majority of Area Control Centres are continuing to deliver in accordance with their Network Operations Plan commitments as August draws to a close, but careful attention is needed to manage continued traffic peaks of around 37,500 flights expected on busy Fridays.
