A number of traffic records were set during the week with 5 States, 11 Area Control Centres and 2 airlines recording new daily traffic highs.
Overall, the first 7 weeks of Summer 2026 vs Summer 2025 show:
- 2% more traffic
- 1.4 percentage points (pp) better arrival punctuality
- 18% fewer air traffic flow management (ATFM) delays.
Some highlights from Week 29 include:
- 69% arrival punctuality
- 4.38 mins/flight ATFM delay
- 63,957 flights delayed by ATFM restrictions (9,137 flights a day and 25% of all flights).
Network hot spots: to date France has generated 31% of en-route delays (of which 9% attributed to Reims, 8% Marseille & 6% Brest area control centres (ACCs), mainly owing to capacity issues, staff shortages & transition issues with 4-FLIGHT, DSNA's new collaborative ATFM system and increasing weather delays. Spain has generated 18% of en-route delays (of which 11% Barcelona, 4% Madrid & 2% Sevilla ACCs), reflecting capacity, staffing & high traffic growth and Greece 12% (of which 8% Athens ACC & 4% Makedonia ACC), the result of capacity, staffing & demand related to the Middle East crisis.
