In Week 5 the European aviation network recorded 24,588 average daily flights, with air traffic levels 2% higher than in the same period in 2025.
While traffic globally was virtually unchanged from Week 4, the busiest ten carriers operated at higher capacity on average (+1.7%), whereas the busiest ten States saw 0.1% fewer flights.
Arrival and departure punctuality were 77.1% and 73.5%, in both cases worse than the same period last year.
With a daily average of around 5K delay minutes, en-route ATFM delays were 4% higher than the previous week, but 19% lower than in 2025.
Total ATFM delay per flight stood at 0.8 min/flight (of which 0.2 was en-route, and 0.6 was attributed to airports).
Overall, France, Spain and Switzerland accounted for slightly under half (45%) of all en-route ATFM delays; while in terms of category, ATC capacity/staffing was the top delay cause, amounting to 58% of all these en-route ATFM delays, most notably in Spain and Germany.
The average jet fuel price closed at $2.29/gallon on 30 January 2026, 4% higher than two weeks earlier.
