EUROCONTROL's European Aviation Overview provides a detailed snapshot of the latest network trends.

It uses the latest traffic data to show how States, airports and airlines are performing, with further analysis of key topics, such as delays and fuel prices.

Week 27 (29 June - 5 July 2026)

The network averaged 36,055 daily flights in Week 27, up 1.4% compared to Week 26 and 3.4% higher than in 2025.

Week-on-week, flights between Europe and the Middle East increased by 13% and exceeded 2025 levels by 3%, reflecting a sustained recovery following the US-Iran Agreement signed on 17 June 2026.

On average, the busiest 10 carriers improved their capacity by 0.9% compared to the previous week. At State level, the busiest 10 States recorded a 2.0% increase in flights compared to the previous week.

Network arrival and departure punctuality were 70.6% and 64.2%, better than the equivalent week in 2025. En-route ATFM delays decreased by 9% compared to the previous week, averaging circa 98K delay minutes per day, and were 44% below 2025 levels. Total air traffic flow management (ATFM) delay per flight was 3.37 mins/flight (2.72 for en-route, and 0.65 for airports).

Weather was the top delay cause (51% of all en-route ATFM delays), particularly in Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Serbia/Montenegro. The area control centres contributing the most to en-route ATFM delays (in mins/flight) were Marseille (2.77 mins/flight), Athens (2.34 mins/flight), Skopje (1.82 mins/flight), Karlsruhe (1.81 mins/flight), and Barcelona (1.71 mins/flight).

Jet fuel prices in Europe fell sharply from their wartime peak in early April, declining from an average of $5.01 per gallon to $2.91 on 3 July 2026. However, prices were 1% higher than two weeks earlier. Jet fuel prices remain volatile as the market transitions from geopolitical disruptions to a gradual supply-chain normalisation process. Air ticket prices - excluding inflation - were lower (-1.7%) for January-May 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
