The network averaged 34,459 daily flights in Week 23, up 1.7% compared to Week 22.
The Middle East crisis has led airlines to cut capacity and withdraw unprofitable routes, ultimately slowing growth since April 2026. The number of European flights declined by 1.1% in April for the first time since the aftermath of the COVID (2021) and hardly increased (+0.5%) in May (compared to the same period in 2025).
Traffic between Europe and the Middle East continued to be impacted, declining 24% year-on-year in Week 23.
On average, the busiest 10 carriers improved their capacity by 1.3% compared to the previous week.
At State level, the busiest 10 States recorded a 2.2% increase in flights compared to the previous week.
Network arrival and departure punctuality were 76.2% and 71.0%, better than the equivalent week in 2025.
En-route ATFM delays decreased by 4% compared to the previous week, averaging circa 67K delay minutes per day, and were 3% above 2025 levels.
Total air traffic flow management (ATFM) delay per flight was 2.6 mins/flight (2.0 for en-route, and 0.6 for airports).
ATC capacity/staffing was the top delay cause (43% of all en-route ATFM delays), particularly in France and Spain.
The area control centres contributing the most to en-route ATFM delays (in mins/flight) were Athens (2.03 mins/flight), Barcelona (1.93 mins/flight), Reims (1.71 mins/flight), Marseille (1.38 mins/flight), and Belgrade (1.30 mins/flight).
Jet fuel prices averaged $3.53 per gallon on 5 June 2026, a decline of 11% from $3.96 per gallon recorded two weeks earlier. In Europe, jet fuel prices remained high at 56% above pre-crisis levels, but have stabilized following the March-April surge, supported in part by alternative supply flows.
