Datalink makes controller-pilot communications more efficient and is a key enabler to increase aviation safety and capacity. In March 2024, the Datalink Performance Monitoring Group (DPMG) established six key targets to enhance operations for the summer of 2024. This comprehensive report highlights the progress and achievements related to these targets, reflecting the Datalink community's commitment to operational efficiency and safety.

Key Targets:

  1. New VDL2 alternate frequencies: Achieved 100% operational status for the Collins 3rd frequency, with full deployment completed by May 24, 2024.
  2. Increase Common Signalling Channel offload: Efforts to reduce the Controller-Pilot Data Link Communication via the CSC to 5% of total traffic are ongoing, with the current rate at 22%.
  3. GNSS interference awareness: Successfully conducted a webinar and shared a GNSS interference map with stakeholders.
  4. Increase logon rate above 75%: Continuous improvements noted, with some ANSPs reaching a 70% logon rate.
  5. Ensure 100% flight plan completion: Significant progress made, including a system update to enhance compliance checks.
  6. Eliminate repetitive uplink messages: This target has been postponed to March 2025.

Despite some challenges, substantial progress has been achieved, demonstrating the collective efforts towards enhancing the summer 2024 operations.
