EUROCONTROL has released an authoritative factsheet on the impact of COVID-19 on aviation in France.

The briefing (available for download below) provides key facts and graphics and is one of a series covering the impact of the crisis on countries across Europe.

“Aviation in France has been very hard hit by the pandemic, with around 700,000 fewer flights than in 2019. Flights to/from/within the France are currently over 64% down on last year and the number of passengers is 78% down. Although we saw some recovery in the summer, traffic is again falling at present.”

The briefing includes information on airports, the major airlines, market segments and traffic flows, including:

  • Last week Paris CDG was 62% down on last year;
  • Air France less affected than Ryanair or easyJet but still 52% down;
  • Both traditional and low cost segments over 60% down;
  • Domestic flights least affected, at only 23% down.
