Air traffic control surveillance coverage maps

At EUROCONTROL, we have developed air traffic control surveillance coverage maps to support flights operated within the European area.

They help to determine whether an airspace block is covered by ATC surveillance means capable of locating the aircraft at 15 minutes time intervals or less. The maps show four coverage cases, showing where coverage is provided by 1, 2, 3, or 4 + radars.

Our charts take into consideration the coverage of civil Mode S radar and SSR Mode A/C radar at 20000ft and 30000ft installed in:

  • European Union Member States (28) and Iceland, Norway and Switzerland;
  • EUROCONTROL Member States (41) and Iceland, Israel and Morocco.

Note:

The designations employed and the presentation of the material on maps do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of EUROCONTROL concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or borders.
