Airport and terminal maneuvering area network integration

Improving airport and terminal manoeuvring area (TMA) operations to better coordinate with air traffic management.

This project sets up the collaborative processes contributing to improved airport and terminal manoeuvring area (TMA) operations and to better coordination with air traffic management (ATM). It supports airports in the implementation of concepts, such as airport collaborative decision making (A-CDM), the airport operations plan (AOP), the airport operations center and total airport management while providing the necessary information exchange mechanisms supporting those concepts.

Upgrades

The following improvements to our current systems will be implemented as part of this project:

  • Advanced Tower Concept and Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) – including support for full A-CDM concept and its impact on the air traffic flow and capacity management (ATFCM) process, as well as implementation of the process through system-wide information management (SWIM) services;
  • AOP-NOP integration – implement services and information exchanges over SWIM in support of the AOP concept and its sharing with the network;
  • Target times of arrival – integration of airport arrival constraints within the ATFCM process.

Benefits

The coordination and exchange of operational information with airports will improve awareness of constraints, improve planning and enhance network predictability. It will improve organise and plan operations, reducing the application of ATFCM measures – especially through cooperative traffic management procedures – and thus minimising overall delay.
