EUROCONTROL and Airports Authority of India sign Declaration of Intent

This covers

EUROCONTROL and the Airports Authority of India have signed a declaration of intent, a first step in establishing a framework of cooperation to enhance ATM for the benefit of aviation in Europe and India.

Air traffic between Europe and India has been steadily increasing over the past year and is now close to 2019 levels. In March 2023, there were an average 109 daily flights with 25 airlines connecting 27 European airports to 13 Indian airports.

Through their cooperation, EUROCONTROL and the Airports Authority of India aim to improve the performance and long-range predictability of flights between their respective airspace. This will contribute to optimum capacity, flexible flights and interoperable systems and data.

The agreement will also cover exchange of updated flight plan and flight profile data and airport departure planning information for flights between their respective areas of responsibility for purposes of ATFM. A further area of cooperation will include Air Traffic Management simulators and simulations with a view to benefit from each other's expertise and knowledge and contribute to the global advancement of technology and best practises for the conduct of simulations and associated data preparation and analysis tools.
