The GNSS Radio Frequency Interference Testing (GRIT) is a tool developed by EUROCONTROL to support civil and military organisations in the planning and management of GNSS interference testing exercises.

It facilitates collaborative decision-making and provides civil and military stakeholders with enhanced awareness of planned GNSS interference exercises, thereby helping to minimise their uncoordinated impact on aircraft operations.

The tool helps ensure safety of operations by enabling:

  • Accurate design of GNSS jamming and spoofing events;
  • Impact assessments on aircraft operations based on the airspace areas and structures, and navigation and surveillance infrastructure in place;
  • Workflow with roles and responsibilities of State entities for a interference testing decision-making process;
  • Cross-border coordination among States;
  • Automated generation of publication proposals (NOTAM and/or AIP SUP);
  • Implementation of the EUROCONTROL guidelines on coordinating civil and military GNSS interference testing.
