EUROCONTROL has published updated editions of three key standards supporting interoperability and system-to-system data exchange across the European ATM network. Together, these deliverables enhance the coordination and transfer of flights between air traffic control units and prepare the network for future operational needs under the Single European Sky framework.
Supporting interoperability and system-to-system flight data exchange
EUROCONTROL Specification for On-Line Data Interchange (OLDI), Edition 6.0
The EUROCONTROL Specification for OLDI defines the requirements and message formats supporting the notification, coordination and transfer of flights through data exchange between adjacent ATS units. By automating coordination, transfer and flight data-sharing processes between ATC units, OLDI ensures the timely and reliable delivery of up-to-date flight information.
OLDI Specification Edition 6.0 enhances operational robustness and supports future ATM needs through enhanced processes and message sets, aligned with Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1771.
EUROCONTROL Specification for On-Line Data Interchange (OLDI)
The processes for automated coordination are covered by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1771, appendix 2 and it is complemented by the EUROCONTROL Specification on On-Line Data Interchange (OLDI), EUROCONTROL-SPEC-106.
EUROCONTROL Specification for ATS Data Exchange Presentation (ADEXP), Edition 4.0
This Specification addresses the format of OLDI message as well as other messages exchanged between different stakeholders, including the Network Manager, and supports the implementation of OLDI Specification Edition 6.0. It provides the standardised format for exchanging flight data between air traffic control centres and remains a key component of interoperable ATM operations.
EUROCONTROL Guidelines for On-Line Data Interchange (OLDI), Edition 2.0
This edition has also been updated to reflect the changes introduced in the new OLDI Specification. The guidelines provide clarifications, best practices and recommendations for OLDI flight data exchanges between air traffic control units.
EUROCONTROL Guidelines for On-Line Data Interchange (OLDI)
These EUROCONTROL Guidelines provide clarifications, best practices and recommendations concerning the OLDI data exchanges for flights between air traffic control units by the use of electronic data transfer between flight data processing systems as well as the initial draft of future OLDI messages.
The new editions of the OLDI and ADEXP Specifications were developed by the OLDI group as part of the Network Manager cooperative arrangements, in close collaboration with operational stakeholders, primarily ANSPs, and ATM system manufacturers. They were published by our standardisation service, following public consultation, in line with the EUROCONTROL standards development process.
