EUROCONTROL’s Aviation Learning Centre launches a specialised course on AMHS

As part of our role of training aviation professionals, EUROCONTROL’s Aviation Learning Centre is launching a course on ATS Message Handling System (AMHS), the ICAO standard that is being implemented worldwide to replace the current Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN).

AMHS is a standard for aeronautical ground-ground communications – allowing the exchange of planning, coordination and alerting information between aviation stakeholders – including the transmission of NOTAMs, flight plans and meteorological data.

Targeting operational and technical staff, this course aims to prepare participants to navigate the complexities of AMHS, bringing them up to speed on the foundational concepts behind ATS messaging, the implementation of AMHS in Europe and worldwide, as well as providing them with examples of application in real-life scenarios. The course will also help participants manage common Aeronautical Communication Centre functions and teach them how to effectively address unusual AMHS traffic situations, such as dealing with emergencies and system outages.

In today's rapidly changing aviation landscape, this new AMHS course provides an important opportunity to keep abreast of technological advancements in an area which is key for aviation safety and interoperability.

Find out more about the course taking place at our Aviation Learning Centre in Luxembourg from 14 to 17 October 2024 on our EUROCONTROL Aviation Learning Zone platform:
