The SESAR 3 Governing Board, comprising the European Commission, EUROCONTROL, the SESAR Joint Undertaking (SJU), and its members—including airspace users, air navigation service providers, airports, ground and aircraft manufacturers as well as the scientific community—has officially approved the 2025 edition of the European ATM Master Plan. This collaborative roadmap, designed to modernise air traffic management, outlines a clear strategy to make European airspace the most efficient and environmentally friendly sky to fly in the world.
The development of the updated plan, led by the SJU, has been shaped by extensive input from a wide range of aviation experts, including consultations across the ECAC region through EUROCONTROL's Civil-Military Stakeholder Community. EUROCONTROL has played a key role in producing the updated vision, working closely with the SJU and stakeholders throughout the consultation process to ensure the plan reflects stakeholder priorities and focuses on enhancing the European ATM Network.
“The formal adoption of the updated European ATM Master Plan underscores the commitment of the entire European aviation community to transforming the future of air traffic management, making it safer, more efficient and environmentally sustainable.”
“The roadmap to a digital and green European sky, as outlined in this plan, aligns perfectly with EUROCONTROL's objectives and initiatives. It supports the evolution of our Network Manager operational concepts, which will be crucial in accelerating the transformation of air traffic management to meet the challenges of growing traffic complexity, climate impact and emerging security threats.”
“We look forward to continuing our collaboration with all partners to implement SESAR and drive forward this vital transformation.”
