The annual LSSIP event provides a valuable opportunity to review the progress of ATM implementation in Europe. The results of this reporting exercise will be compiled in a new set of Local Single Sky ImPlementation (LSSIP) documents, which then feed into the annual European ATM Master Plan Level 3 Progress Report. Following the event, a new LSSIP monitoring cycle starts, based on the most recent European ATM Master Plan Level 3 Plan 2019.
In terms of ensuring all States are coordinated and on track to improve European ATM, the LSSIP process plays a vital role, providing a comprehensive picture of the implementation of the Single European Sky package across ECAC States; allowing the alignment of the performance of State plans with the evolution of ATM; and ensuring that EUR Region States report to ICAO about their progress on the Global Air Navigation Plan ASBU (Aviation System Block Upgrade) modules.
At a lively event including a strategic presentation by Iacopo Prissinotti, EUROCONTROL Director Network Management, participants reviewed all aspects of the LSSIP process. The event looked at what’s new for the 2019 cycle (presenter: Veronique Martou), reviewed progress on the European ATM Master Plan Level 3 (Octavian Cioara) and on its 2019 Implementation Plan (Igor Marcetic); and considered recent developments (Luca Dell'Orto) and reporting tools (Alessandro Prestigiacomo). New features this year were the addition of two additional reporting mechanisms to the LSSIP process in the form of NETSYS and U-Space monitoring. This was complemented by one of the event’s most valuable features, learning from experience, with EUROCONTROL’s Agnieszka Dybowska and ENAIRE’s Estibaliz Salazar Fernandez leading the review of 2018 LSSIP Lessons Learned and Best Practices.
