Master plan, architecture and monitoring
Helping modernise European air traffic management.
Focus
We steer the development of the European ATM Master Plan in coordination with the SESAR Joint Undertaking (SJU). We provide the facilities, unique frameworks, guidelines and tools, such as the European ATM Architecture, to develop, together with and for the benefit of aviation stakeholders, a credible vision and plan for setting ATM priorities in response to Single European Sky (SES) objectives. This can be seen in the form of an executive view (Level 1), architecture and design view (Level 2) and deployment view (Level 3) in our EATM portal.
We are the driving force behind the planning of the SESAR R&D programme and ensure consistency between the implementation of the ATM Master Plan and the ICAO Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP).
We support our Member States in planning, monitoring and reporting on the practical implementation of their ATM improvement plans so that ATM modernisation in Europe stays on track. Specifically, this means coordinating the preparation of implementation progress reports (LSSIP documents) by national stakeholders, and of consolidated reports at European level, such as the European ATM Master Plan Level 3 Implementation Report and the ICAO GANP/ASBU monitoring report for ICAO EUR/NAT States.
Projects and services
ATM Master Plan maintenance
Content integration, performance management and business case development
Local Single Sky implementation monitoring
Key documents
We monitor and report on the ATM Master Plan and U-Space deployment progress in Europe, as well as on the ASBU implementation in the ICAO EUR Region. Our activity is guided by the main ATM planning instrument in Europe - the ATM Master Plan – as well as its global counterpart - the ICAO Global Air Navigation Plan – together with the growing need to safely integrate drone operations into European airspace.
