The 12th edition of the Safety Forum will take place at our Brussels Headquarters from 5 to 6 June 2025. The Safety Forum is organised by the Flight Safety Foundation in partnership with EUROCONTROL and the European Regions Airlines Association (ERAA) and this year’s theme will be “People in the Centre of Aviation Safety”.

The two-day Forum will take a holistic and proactive approach to examining mental health, well-being, fatigue and workload management as essential factors in maintaining resilience in aviation.

Registrations are now open on the dedicated website - make sure to register so you don't miss out! A preliminary agenda will follow shortly.

Call for presentations

The Safety Forum’s Organising Committee invites submissions to present as a speaker. Submissions should provide fact-based insights or proven practical approaches to holistically and proactively address mental health, well-being, fatigue and workload management.

Possible topics for presentations include:

  • What can front-line operators do before a mission to help them handle what happens during and after that mission?
  • How can organisations support the capability for resilient performance in their front-line operators?
  • How can we distinguish “resilient performance” from “silent endurance” before the tragedy occurs?
  • What are the policy, regulatory, and cultural roadblocks to learning about mental health and well-being in the aviation industry?
  • How can organisations and front-line workers successfully manage pressures to do more, limit costs, and stay safe?
  • What is the right balance between individual, team, and organisational strategies for managing mental health, well-being, fatigue, and workload?
  • Nature versus nurture in resilient performance: What is the optimal balance between selection, screening, and development when addressing mental health, fatigue, and workload management?
  • What are the tensions between short-term and long-term approaches to managing mental health, well-being, fatigue, and workload? How can these tensions be effectively addressed?
  • Understanding and managing “burnout”, neurodivergence, depression and addiction?

You are invited to submit your proposal by 1 February 2025.

You can find more information and the instructions on how to submit your proposal on the Flight Safety Foundation dedicated website here.
