FF-ICE aims to facilitate the transition to a fully collaborative environment where a flight trajectory is shared and optimised during all phases of a flight. FF-ICE/R1 services are mainly focused in the pre-departure phase of flight. Each service is supported by harmonised procedures and standardised messages. They will enable stakeholders to file, update or cancel flights plans, provide data on certain flight events and request flight plan information and data.
The deployment of five FF-ICE/R1 services is mandated by European Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/116 (Common Project 1), with a target implementation date of December 31, 2025. This mandate applies to airspace users, ANSPs, and the NM, with more information available in the SESAR Deployment Programme.
However, severe delays have already been acknowledged regarding this implementation. To foster and support the implementation, NM and SDM have teamed up to organise the NM-SDM FF-ICE Implementation Support Initiative. One of the key deliverables of the initiative is the yearly FF-ICE Implementation Roadmap that should provide with a detailed view of the planning of implementation by all stakeholders and a comprehensive analysis of it (e.g. to plan testing between NM and Stakeholders, to address implementation issues).
For the first version of the FF-ICE implementation roadmap delivered in March 2024, questionnaires were provided to ANSPs to report on their detailed planning. For the next version, the reporting is now fully integrated with LSSIP Process and relevant modification has been carried out in the related LSSIP Objectives reporting structure.
