European Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) Webinar

An emergency helicopter about to take off

With lives in peril, the expectations placed on Search and Rescue (SAR) organisations are extremely high. Their performance is largely dependent on the organisation of SAR services and the implementation of regional cooperation and collaboration. The implementation of new International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and European standards in support of the Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) concept of operations will not only help to further enhance aviation safety, it will also provide an opportunity to review and enhance existing SAR procedures.

EUROCONTROL hosted the European GADSS webinar series with the objective to increase the awareness of GADSS and present the practical implications of the implementation and operation of GADSS. The series was organised by EUROCONTROL in cooperation with Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), the Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses (BEA) and the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Office and included informative presentations and use case showcases from the organisers and industry representatives.
