Aviation Engage webinar on preparing for Summer 2026 traffic

Aviation Engage

Our next Aviation Engage webinar on 7 May, 11:00-12:00 CEST, explores how European aviation actors are getting ready to manage busy summer traffic. As the sector heads into what is expected to be an exceptionally demanding Summer 2026—intensified by airspace closures in the Middle East, persistent structural capacity limits, and ongoing air traffic controller shortages—addressing these operational challenges has never been more critical. And in the long-term, ensuring stability given growing traffic demand requires faster airspace redesign, continued modernisation efforts, and reinforced operational coordination across the network.

Aviation Engage webinar on preparing for Summer 2026 traffic

This Aviation Engage webinar explored how European aviation actors are getting ready to manage busy summer traffic.

Watch the recording of the webinar to hear from leading voices from across the network.

About the webinar

Against this backdrop, Aviation Engage offered a timely deep dive into how the European aviation system is preparing for the months ahead. It look at lessons from last summer, when despite a 3% year on year traffic growth and continued convective weather events, the network achieved 34% fewer en route delays compared to the previous year – a clear sign of increasing robustness driven by stronger planning, closer coordination, operational actors that think of the impact of individual actions on the Network as a whole (#thinkNetwork) and consistent procedures applied across European airspace.

Watch the recording to learn how these operational improvements are being carried forward, what still needs to be addressed, and how the EUROCONTROL Network Manager and its operational partners are working together to keep the system resilient in the face of rising demand and evolving airspace constraints.

To discuss the challenges ahead, some leading voices from major network players explored:

  • What key lessons were learned from Summer 2025
  • What is needed to achieve further performance improvements in 2026 and beyond
  • How to build predictability and resilience in a complex network as air traffic continues to grow
