Aviation 4 Girls 2024
EUROCONTROL is thrilled to partner with Aviation for All (AviAll) , and its partners, to organise this next edition of the Aviation 4 Girls event on 25 October 2024 at our Brussels headquarters.
Running under the theme “Spread your wings beyond limits”, this event is aimed at encouraging young minds to explore the unlimited possibilities of aviation.
The event is designed for 15-18 year-olds (girls and boys) and will feature:
- Empowering stories: Hear from our inspiring speakers about their experience and achievements in aviation.
- Hands-on workshops:
- Flight engineering challenge: Design, craft and test paper airplane wings
- Flight simulators: Take the pilot's seat
- Kinetic energy experiment: From potential to kinetic energy
- Air traffic control experience within the new EUROCONTROL Ops Centre
- A career fair: Discover diverse career paths in the aviation industry.
- A livestream: A portion of the event will be livestreamed for schools!
Due to high interest in the event, registration is now closed. We are currently processing all applications and will keep you informed. You can still tune in to the livestream, which will be available on this page on 25 October from 9:30 to 10:30.

The event aims to stimulate the imagination and creativity of young people, and to encourage them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by showing them opportunities for careers in technical companies and organisations in which women are classically underrepresented.

Charlotte Pedersen
Charlotte Pedersen is the Founder and CEO of Pegasus Consilium SarL, a Board and Management advisory company specialised in the areas of corporate strategy, branding, management, leadership, sustainability, diversity and inclusion. She has more than 35 years of experience in the transportation, luxury travel, high-end hospitality and leisure sectors.
She is a Certified ILA and INSEAD Director and holds a Master’s degree with honours in Business Administration from Sacred Heart University and was awarded the Deans Leadership Award.
Charlotte started her career as Air Force Officer and Helicopter Search & Rescue Pilot in the Danish Armed Forces where she was the first female military pilot and served for 17 years, before becoming COO of Luxaviation.
Mélanie Astles
Mélanie Astles is an aeronautical enthusiast and an accomplished aerobatic pilot. Six times French aerobatic champion in 5 distinct levels, from Hope in 2007 to Elite in 2021, and she made history in 2016 by becoming the first lady to compete in the famous plane races Red Bull Air Race as a Challenger Cup driver. In 2019, she became British champion, as well as vice-champion of France Elite and ranked 7th female in the world aerobatics in the same category.
Her path is an inspiring example of perseverance and determination. When she left school at 18 to enter the professional life, no one could have imagined that she would one day realise her childhood dream of becoming a pilot. Her story is above all made of passion, perseverance and self-transcendence. All disciplines combined, she totals more than 4500 flight hours.
Mélanie is a public figure present on social networks, during her conferences and air shows in which she participates all over the world each year. She loves sharing her dreams with the public and inspiring people to pursue theirs.
Lexie Janson
Also known as MaiOnHigh, Lexie Janson is a trailblazer in the sky. Born in 1993, she made history as the world's first female flying car racing pilot, pushing the boundaries of aviation and technology. An accomplished FPV drone pilot, Lexie combines precision and passion to master the air, showcasing her skills in breathtaking displays of aerial acrobatics.
Beyond her pioneering achievements, Lexie is a dedicated content creator and educator. She uses her platform to demystify drone technology and flying, inspiring and guiding the next generation of pilots. Her contributions extend beyond the racetrack and the drone field - she is a beacon for those aspiring to soar in the realms of innovation and creativity.
Farah Luu
Farah Luu is a Project Manager in the Drones Programmes at our EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub in France. The Innovation Hub is responsible for developing innovative solutions to share a safe, efficient and sustainable future for European aviation.
Before joining EUROCONTROL in November of 2023, Farah worked for Thales in France and Australia. She started off as a System Engineer and moved on to managing projects in the field of drones and unmanned aerial systems traffic management (UTM). She has extensive experience in managing and coordinating multi-site engineering teams and activities.
Farah holds a Bachelor and a MSc degree in Physics as well as a specialisation in Aerospace Engineering.
Tereza Mihaylova
Tereza Mihaylova works as Network Operations Specialist in Airspace Data at EUROCONTROL’s Network Manager Operations Centre – which is responsible for managing air traffic flow across the whole of Europe, ensuring that flights reach their destination safely, on time, with the least possible impact on environment and in a cost-efficient manner.
With a solid foundation in Air Transport Management from Loughborough University (United Kingdom), Tereza’s journey in the aviation industry began at the Bulgarian air navigation service provider BULATSA. Later on in 2019, she joined EUROCONTROL gaining invaluable experience in airspace management and operational excellence.In the past four years, Tereza has also comanaged the cross-border weather procedures across the European air traffic management network, highlighting her dedication to collaborative weather management and aviation safety.
Additionally, Tereza has been supporting high school and university students in their first professional steps, helping to cultivate future leaders in the aviation sector.
Kimberly Ullrich
Kimberly Ullrich works as an aviation consultant at To70, a global research and consultancy company that helps public-sector bodies and the global aviation industry to cope with today’s challenges.
Kimberly is deeply passionate about exploring new solutions to catalyse aviation's path towards net-zero. With a particular focus on sustainability, she specialises in future aviation fuels, sustainable airport practices, and the reduction of both carbon and non-CO2 emissions.
She holds a MSc. Degree in Sustainable Business & Innovation.
Charlotte Van de Voorde
Charlotte is an Engineering Manager at the Boeing Company, one of the largest aerospace manufacturers in the world. She leads a team in the United Kingdom that modifies aircraft interiors with cutting-edge designs. During her studies, she worked as a Cabin Crew Member for TUIFly Belgium.
Her passion for aviation regulations, along with her award-winning thesis on establishing a design organisation in the aviation industry, led her to teach the subject at the Catholic University of Leuven today. Charlotte holds a MSc. in Engineering Technology with a specialisation in Aerospace Engineering and is pursuing an Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration at Belgium’s top business school.
