Airspace World 2024

Airspace World 2024

On 19-21 March 2024, we came together again with our European aviation partners (DG MOVE, EASA, EDA, EUROCAE, EUSPA, CINEA, SDM and SJU) as the #EuropeForAviation team at Airspace World in Geneva.

Over the course of the three-day global event, we showcased how, through collaboration, we are tackling the most pressing challenges facing the European aviation industry, promoting the modernisation, sustainability and resilience of a safe European aviation.

Our programme included a series of panel sessions and briefings across the various theatres where we will be exploring a wide range of topics linked to ATM transformation, cross-border operation optimisation, civil-military cooperation, CNS developments, crisis management, digitalisation, innovation, preparing for summer 2024 traffic, and safety.

Philippe Very & Gabriel Jarry present ContrailNET – a new initiative aimed at advancing the aviation sector’s efforts to reduce the climate impact of non-CO2 aviation emissions. The objective of the project is to stimulate contrail research by sharing research datasets which are essential for building and validating physical and observational models. The data includes images from satellites/ground-based cameras as well as various measurements (in situ/satellites).

Yves de Wandeler & Charles Walker showcase MIRROR - a new & innovative flight visualisation tool developed by EUROCONTROL that helps operational stakeholders predict and mitigate delays. MIRROR creates a sequence of flights for each aircraft in the European aviation network, enabling operational stakeholders to predict delays more accurately, and take measures to mitigate their impact. This increases the efficiency and sustainability of flights and reduces the financial impact for airlines.
