Static data operations

Access conditions

SDO/SDD is the central aeronautical data repository of the European AIS Database. It stores and provides data in AIXM 4.5 (SDO) and AIXM 5.1 (SDD) formats.

It enables data providers to maintain the static data for their area of responsibility and allows them to retrieve static data from other areas, and it makes it possible for data users to produce reports or to download static data from the EAD.

For data providers

AIS data providers can access the EAD system to perform updates of their static data, directly, through a graphical user interface (B2C – EADPro) or via XML data uploads (B2B – MyEAD).

After data validation, the information is made available to the different sub-systems to produce the AIP and charts, to validate the NOTAM information at creation or during processing and to perform the pre-validation of a flight plan when using the ARO Briefing facility.

SDO provides also a graphical validation tool for complex static data changes, to visualise and verify information before publication.

Addressed user needs:
  • for NOFs (NOTAM Offices), creating and maintaining NOTAM information;
  • for ANSPs, publishing AIP information;
  • for ANSPs, providing aeronautical data;
  • as AROs (ATS Reporting Offices), an integrated flight planning solution.

For data users

EAD allows data users to populate their own databases from received static data files. For this, the static data can be downloaded in AIXM 4.5 (from SDO) or in AIXM 5.1 formats (from SDD). Additionally, the SDO/SDD databases can be queried through standard reports or through user-defined reporting.

SDO provides also a graphical reporting tool for data querying, and for visualising the requested data.

The SDO/SDD contains aeronautical data maintained directly by the EAD data providers (migrated to static data operations) within their areas of responsibility and a world-wide minimum static dataset maintained by the EAD Data Operations Provider (DOP).

Addressed user needs:
  • downloading aeronautical information in AIXM 4.5 / 5.1 formats;
  • generating and creating reports to query the SDO/SDD databases.
