Aeronautical information management

The dynamic, integrated management of aeronautical information services through the provision and exchange of quality-assured digital aeronautical data, in collaboration with all parties.

ICAO defines Aeronautical Information Management as the dynamic, integrated management of aeronautical information services through the provision and exchange of quality-assured digital aeronautical data, in collaboration with all parties.

From AIS to AIM

Under the ICAO ATM Concept, global airspace will gradually become a virtual continuum to be efficiently organised and managed for the benefit of all airspace users.

In this framework, traditional Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) are gradually giving way to AIM and embracing the increasing application of System Wide Information Management (SWIM) principles.

Through its projects, EUROCONTROL supports ECAC stakeholders in their transition from AIS to AIM and in the application of SWIM principles.

In particular, we are developing practical guidance materials, such as the AIM Toolkit, to ensure the harmonised and coordinated implementation of AIM in all European states.
