Within the EUROCONTROL Directorate of ATM Programmes, the Safety Enhancement Business Division ( DAP/SAF for short ) is responsible for the implementation of safety improvement programmes. The latter span a period of a few years and are aimed at delivering short term benefit in a measurable way.

European Safety Programme |
A new EUROCONTROL initiative, the European Safety Plan (ESP), launched on 28 February 2006, aims to improve European Air Traffic Management (EATM) safety maturity across the (42) European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) States to a common minimum level by December 2008.

Safety Improvement Initiatives |
Safety Enhancement Business Division coordinates the Air-Ground Communications Safety Improvement Initiative, Eurocontrol Improvements Initiative lifecycle such as:
- Identification of Safety Issue
- Initial Evaluation
- Analysis of the causal factors and elaboration of recommendations
- Development and adoption of an Action Plan
- Implementation and monitoring
