European Safety Management in Air Navigation Services |
|
There is no doubt that aviation is one of the safest global means of transportation. If we want to keep it that way, and even enhance it where possible, then the implementation of modern safety management in Air Navigation Services is key.
The mission of the Safety Enhancement Business Division (SAF) is therefore to lead the implementation of Safety Management in the Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) of the 41 ECAC States as well as in the EUROCONTROL Agency.
We do this via safety enhancement programmes, such as the European Safety Programme (ESP)
Implementation and monitoring of such programmes is co-ordinated via the various Stakeholders Working Groups, because consultation and consensus are required to achieve a harmonised, Pan-European way of working. As safety requires a total system approach, we also work closely with our partners in the Airlines and with suppliers to the industry.
In order to ensure that our safety management activities are aligned with safety regulation, we have an ongoing dialogue with our colleagues from the Safety Regulation Unit, and the European Commission.
The Safety Enhancement Business Division is a Team of highly specialised experts, well experienced in and with focus on various safety management aspects in ANS. Do not hesitate to call upon their expertise when required.
