Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (APT-ASMGCS), 15-17 November 2011 (3 days) |
 |
This course provides an overview of the operational concept of Advanced-Surface Movement Guidance and Control Systems (A-SMGCS) and of current modes of operation. In particular, the importance of accurately specifying a user requirement is addressed, together with the need to consider future expansion, taking advantage of the scalability available from many A-SMGCS, when initially deploying the system.
The key components of an A-SMGCS, and their principles of operation, are discussed in some detail. Additionally, wherever possible practical experience gained by previous adopters is shared in order to allow those planning to implement a system to make optimised decisions based on in-service experience.
Other topics covered include procurement issues, specification of performance requirements and monitoring of in-service performance. Finally, an overview of current research and of possible developments in the future is provided.
This workshop includes a Runway Safety day to which pilots and drivers are specially invited.
Target audience for this course is Air Traffic Controllers, Pilots and Airport Operations personnel.
