Actions at Airports
Individual European Airports should initiate a Runway Safety Programme that includes creating a local runway safety team composed of representatives from the Air Navigation Service Provider, the Aerodrome Operator, and the local Aircraft Operators.

Local Runway Safety Teams should do the following tasks:

  • Review the current implementation of the relevant ICAO provisions

  • Improve runway safety occurrence reporting and analysis

  • Establish a risk based approach to change Management

  • Ensure that the existing Safety management System explicitly incorporates runway operations

  • Share information about common problems and exchange common solutions to ensure harmonisation of the European Air Traffic Management System.
