The number of Runway Excursion accidents have not reduced in over 20 years.
Eurocontrol has conducted a study to determine what are the major contributory factors to runway excursions in Europe.
The study, Runway Excursions from a European Perspective, covers the top 18 contributory factors.
Recommendations to determine how to prevent runway excursions are now under development in partnership with aircraft operators, aircraft manufacturers, air navigation service providers, aerodrome operators, staff associations, regulators, EASA and the European Commercial Aviation Safety Team (ECAST).
