New-style airspace user forum

24 JAN 2012

The 2012 edition of EUROCONTROL’s Airspace User Forum began just this morning at our Headquarters in Brussels. This annual rendez-vous is a unique opportunity for debating, solution-finding and interacting with the newly-established Network Manager.

This year sees a major change since it will be entirely dedicated to airspace users. The focus will be on exploring how the Network Manager can best serve airspace users' needs and optimise the overall network performance. This time around, we present the forum in a new format - which must appeal to our airspace users as we welcomed 260 participants from the four corners of Europe this morning.

The conference this morning hosted keynote speakers from the airline business. Later in the afternoon, special guests will animate round tables on Airspace users' needs for services. Another new addition to the format this year are the one-to-one sessions for senior representatives from aviation, ATM and EUROCONTROL’s managers and experts.

The information sessions will further encourage the participants to share their views on which operational services are most needed, how to improve ATM operations to better serve them, and how the Network Manager can contribute to achieving their performance objectives.

Day 1 aims to provide a managerial perspective on the needs of airspace users along with ATM network performance and the Network Manager’s role in a highly interactive way, while Day 2 will continue with workshops and presentations with a look into “Operations and Developments” on the one hand and “Information Services” on the other.

The popular classic features are still on the agenda, with “Demos and Learning” lectures covering around 20 topics as well as guided tours of our Operations room.

For those of you who cannot attend this year, our website will be fully updated with presentations and a summary of the event.
