New Era for Aerospace Research
10 JUL 2012
The new ACARE website is a collaborative platform where everyone interested in future aviation developments will be able to access useful information, including the SRIA documents and dissemination agenda; Flightpath 2050 as well as open calls for research programmes, issued at European and national levels.
ACARE today concluded its work on the new Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) at its General Assembly at the Farnborough Air Show.
The SRIA will guide the future direction of public and private research towards the achievement of the ‘Flightpath 2050’ Vision. The full document will be published during the ILA Airshow in Berlin in September.
Welcoming the adoption of the SRIA, Tom Enders, Chair of ACARE and President and CEO of EADS said: "Aviation in Europe creates economic growth, wealth, and highly skilled jobs. Worldwide air passenger traffic is forecast to grow by 4 to 5% per annum. This growth represents an economic opportunity for European businesses but needs to be met whilst minimizing its impact on the environment. Europe must make substantial and sustained investment not only in the technologies of today and tomorrow, but also in the development of innovative travel services. This investment will start with Research and Development set out in the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA).”
