Europe making progress on A-CDM implementation
21 JUN 2011
We are striving to accelerate Airport Collaborative Decision-Making (A-CDM) implementation throughout the ECAC area, together with our partners, IATA, CANSO, ACI EUROPE.
Four main European airports have already successfully implemented A-CDM, and we’re happy to see years of hard work being formally recognised through a new A-CDM certificate which is being granted to ‘A-CDM compliant’ airports.
Paris Charles-de-Gaulle is one of four airports (with Munich, Brussels and Frankfurt) which are being granted this certificate.
European recognition for airports implementing A-CDM
This certificate acknowledges that A-CDM has been successfully implemented, in compliance of the harmonised implementation guidelines, and that airport operations are connected with network operations using the departure planning information (DPI) messages.
Although there is no regulatory requirement to implement CDM, the label recognises the considerable work that has taken place to reach this last stage of implementation.
What is Airport Collaborative Decision-Making (A-CDM)?
The A-CDM implementation brings concrete benefits to all airport business partners and is also a key element to reach the main objective of the new Network Management function of EUROCONTROL: to integrate airport operations into the European ATM network.
With more and more airports becoming fully A-CDM compliant, the overall network benefits become significant: real time data allowing for improved the traffic predictability; better ATFM slots adherence to quote but a couple. Eventually, network delays could be reduced significantly.
EUROCONTROL will pursue its fruitful cooperation with industry partners such as IATA, CANSO and ACI EUROPE to accelerate A-CDM implementation throughout the ECAC area.
