ARTAS surveillance tracker programme goes further
Reliable and accurate surveillance data that covers the entire European air traffic management (ATM) network is essential for safe and efficient ATM operations. This is why it is important to make optimum use of all available surveillance tools in an interoperable manner.
The ATM Surveillance Tracker and Server (ARTAS) programme is the concept behind the Europe-wide, distributed surveillance system that was developed and has been maintained by EUROCONTROL on behalf of its Member States since the early 1990s. It applies advanced multi-sensor tracking technology to deliver the highest level of performance, using primary surveillance radar (PSR), secondary surveillance radar (SSR), Mode-S, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) and wide-area multilateration (WAM) surveillance sensors.
ARTAS evolves continuously in line with operational, regulatory and technological changes. It will soon be deployed beyond EUROCONTROL’s network of Member States and is gaining new functionalities to cover all phases of flight.
