Maastricht UAC has been operating data link for a number of years, the first ATN/VDL Mode 2 flight having taken place in 2001. Since then Maastricht UAC has gained significant experience.
The experience gained from Maastricht and other Data link Ground trials will be used to assist ANSPs in meeting the requirements of the Data Link Services Implementing Rule.
