INTEGRA - The Process for Validation |
 |
INTEGRA is a EUROCONTROL CARE (Co-operative Actions of R&D in EUROCONTROL) initiative
INTEGRA set out to answer the question: why have simulations so far failed to give the validation results we need? and to design a solution, the INTEGRA Process.
INTEGRA’s focus has been to harness real-time simulations to obtain quantitative and objective assessments of the systems’ performance which can be used to provide decision-makers with evidence that money spent developing a proposed new ATM concept or tool can be repaid in operational benefit.
INTEGRA has developed a validation process and associated metrics to measure the benefits of Advanced Controller Tools in ATM systems. Although tools have been exercised in real-time simulators over a number of years there has been a lack of quantitative data to support decisions for implementation.
The INTEGRA process links Capacity, Safety and Efficiency, measuring these parallel aspects of system performance in a single experiment. |

INTEGRA Dissemination at NLR
Following the completion and evaluation of these metrics using a real-time simulation at NLR in the Netherlands two demonstration days were held to show the results of the evaluation and give a practical demonstration of the deployment of the metrics and their associated methodology on a real-time simulation.
