ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Database (ICARD)

Since October 1995, EUROCONTROL and the ICAO EUR/NAT regional Office have worked together to develop and maintain a common database of facilities and services required for international air navigation within the EUR/NAT region.
In February 1998, the first internet application on the EUROCONTROL website was developed to support the allocation process of five-letter name-codes used for the identification of significant points (for ATS routes) not marked by the site of a radio navigation aid and Designators for ATS Routes. This application was named ICARD.
5LNC : Allocation of unique names for designated points (Annex 11 Appendix 2)
Route Designators : Allocation of unique names for ATS Routes (Annex 11 Appendix 1)
The database is also loaded with ICAO designators and indicators coordinated by ICAO Headquarters. A browsing facility of these codes and indicators is provided for the benefit of EUROCONTROL and ICAO users.
  ICAO Designators and Indicators
The first features maintained historically in this database have concerned the aeronautical telecommunications part of the EUR Air Navigation Plan. In January 1996, the allocation of international and national VHF frequencies for air-ground communication purposes was done through this database; it is known as table COM-2.

One year later, in March 1997, the database was expanded to support the coordination process for international and national frequency assignments to radio navigation aids. This part is commonly known as table COM-3.

And finally, since February 2000, the international and national frequency assignment process to radio navigation aids in the LF/MF band has been handled within this common database. This part is commonly known as table COM-4.
