HP in Future Systems

Overview

In this section you will find information relating to ATCO Task analysis, the HF Case, the HIFA website, and SHAPE.

HF Case

The HF Case is a process to systematically manage the identification and treatment of HF issues as early as possible in a project’s lifecycle. The HF Case is a management tool to provide a process to address HF issues for a project.

HIFA website

The Human Factors Integration in Future ATM Systems (HIFA) project is concerned with the application of human factors in the design of future Air Traffic Management Systems. HIFA was developed as a database of methods and tools for human factors issues within differentl life cycle stages of an air traffic management system.

SHAPE

Solutions for Human-Automation Partnerships in European ATM (SHAPE) deals with a number of issues related to the implications of advanced automated systems on the roles of controllers. It addresses how automation influences team work and situation awareness of controllers and examines how controllers build up trust in new systems.

ATCO Task analysis

The Integrated Task Analysis project (ITA) developed a job description of en-route, arrival/departure and tower controllers which is focused on the mental aspects of a controller's work. It identified and described in flow charts four basic sub-processes of the job and six task processes. These processes integrate both mental and behavioural elements of the job.
