EUROCONTROL has undertaken this surveys with the objective of measuring improvements on ATM safety.
The surveys determine whether States and Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) have well defined and mature frameworks for managing air traffic safety that meet or exceed the requirements set out in European and international requirements.
This survey was carried out in 53 countries plus the Maastricht UACC.
Within SES States ANSPs average at the level of 68.6%, proving that the new scheme is more demanding. It shows as well that air traffic safety has continued to improve in Europe over the last 12 months.

The purpose of this workshop is to formally launch the ESP implementation programme while closing simultaneously the SSAP; present the overall results of the SSAP implementation; explain the background to the ESP and its Five Activity Fields; explain the monitoring process; present the safety views of ICAO, European Commission, Airspace users and aviation mass-media; allow debate on the process and discuss methods of improving stakeholders involvement.
