The WakeNet 2 project

The EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre (EEC) participated in WakeNet 2-Europe, an EC Sixth Framework programme (FP6) research project funded under the Directorate-General Transport and Energy (DG TREN).

WakeNet2-Europe continues on from the Thematic Networks WakeNet and WakeNet Europe projects.

Overview

The WakeNet 2 project was undertaken to:
  • promote multi-disciplinary contacts and information exchange between specialists active in the field of wake turbulence and end-users of this knowledge in the operational airport environment, and
  • enable the development of a shared view on research needed to address the existing and foreseeable safety- and capacity-related issues associated with wake turbulence.
