The EEC is a participant in the SWIM-Suit project

The EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre (EEC) is a participant in the SWIM-Suit project, which is a component of the European Commission's 6th Framework programme.

SWIM is shorthand for System-wide Information Management and SWIM-Suit is shorthand for SWIM-supported by Innovative Technologies.

Project objective

In order to perform an exhaustive analysis of the technologies expected to support the emerging SWIM concepts, a consortium comprising major stakeholders (industrials, ANSPs [air navigation service providers], airlines, airport managing companies, research centres, and subject matter experts), will carry out the SWIM-Suit project.

This project will perform an entire development, evaluation, and results assessment cycle where many of the organisational, legal, and financial issues, in addition to the purely technical issues, will be addressed. Prototype systems will be develoepd during the process thereby supporting the Episode 3 project and the SESAR programme.
