A-SMGCS - Level 1 and 2 Validation |

The A-SMGCS (Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System) Level 1 and 2 Validation project forms part of the work of the EATMP Airport Operations Programme (APR) and more specifically to the A-SMGCS project which aims to facilitate the early implementation of A-SMGCS Implementation Levels 1 & 2 through the development of appropriate operational concepts, requirements and procedures.

In a first phase the A-SMGCS Project has involved the development of agreed requirements for A-SMGCS Levels 1 & 2, namely:
- Agreed user requirements;
- A concept of operations;
- Operational requirements; and
- Functional requirements.

|
The objective of A-SMGCS Validation project is to perform the validation of the concept, requirements and procedures for Implementation Levels 1 & 2 that have been developped in the first phase of the A-SMGCS Project. It is anticipated that such a validation will involve the use of real time simulations and pre-operational trials at one (or more) representative airports through which the benefits and feasibility of A-SMGCS (Implementation Levels 1 & 2) shall be assessed, demonstrated and confirmed.
