The EEC is a Participant in the "ASSTAR" Project

The EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre (EEC) is a participant in the ASSTAR project, which is a component of the European Commission's 6th Framework programme.

ASSTAR is shorthand for "Advanced Safe Separation Technology and Algorithm".

Project objective

The main purpose of the ASSTAR project is to investigate the feasibility and benefits of transferring the responsibility for separation provision to the flight crew in crossing and passing encounters as part of "ASAS Package II" applications together with the use of ADS-B (automated dependent surveillance - broadcast) to support new operations in airspace that does not have radar coverage.
