General traffic decline trend that started with the winter season in November continued also in January with 2.6% less traffic compared to January 2011. Overall ATFM delays were the lowest of the last 13 months with 0.7 minutes per flight in average.
Weather was the main cause of delays throughout the month with extreme cold and snow affecting the main airports like Istanbul, Amsterdam and London Heathrow.
COOPANS implementation at Malmo ACC, reduced ATC Capacity in Ankara ACC due to ORBB FIR (Baghdad, NOTAM A1760/11) and re-opening of the Libyan airspace were the main events in January 2012
