EU Transport Attachés at EUROCONTROL

EU Transport Attachés visited EUROCONTROL Headquarters on 1 July 2008. The delegation was led by Mr Thierry Buttin, from the French Permanent Representation to the EU and Chairman of the Aviation Group at the EU Council. He was accompanied by representatives from the French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development, and representatives from the Directorate General of Transport of the European Commission.
Mr David McMillan, the Director General of EUROCONTROL, assisted by top management, presented an overview of the activities of EUROCONTROL and the ATM challenges in Europe. Mr Bo Redeborn, EUROCONTROL Director ATM Strategies, presented EUROCONTROL views on the 2nd package of Single European Sky regulations recently launched by the European Commission. A debate followed, including on the Single European Sky and SESAR.

The meeting ended with a visit of the Central Flow Management Unit (CFMU) which coordinates air traffic flow and capacity at a pan-European level.
