Communications Domain |

As one of the essential components of the Air Traffic Management strategy, the Communication Systems and Programmes Division is divided into the following activities: the Communications Domain, 8.33 kHz and Link 2000+.
The Communications Domain is responsible for the management of activities and projects which enable the communication infrastructure appropriate to support the exchange of information between airspace users (mobile and fixed). |

Combined Air Ground Communications Focus Group (AGCFG/5) & NexSAT Steering Group (NexSAT/10), 24-25 March, 2009, Brussels
The next meeting of the AGCFG/5 and NexSAT/10 will take place on 24th and 25th March 2009, in Brussels.
The first part of the meeting will cover the satellite aspects. There will an update on the satellite developments and in particular the meeting will discuss the potential options for a new standard for satellite communications supporting more stringent performance requirements. It is proposed that the NexSAT SG will facilitate the development of a consensus proposal/material for subsequent input to ICAO. This could be achieved with the establishment with a subgroup of interested parties.
In addition the meeting will provide an update on the FCI developments with presentations from various actors. Key COM projects will also present their outcome and status. There will be an update of the ICAO/ACP and the EC and SJU relevant developments as well as a briefing on the WRC2011 preparations and the Civil/Military COM aspects.

EUROCONTROL launches the online ATM Ground Voice Network (AGVN) database. The purpose of the AGVN database is to allow the sharing of information between voice experts that are implementing ATM Voice communication for operational application like co-ordination and transfer, emergency, Search and Rescue, flow management, capacity planning. |

FMTP Database (11/6/08) |

EUROCONTROL launches the online FMTP database. The purpose of the FMTP database is to allow the sharing of information between ATC centre experts that are implementing the FMTP communication protocol for the OLDI operational application. The European Commission published the FMTP Single European Sky Implementing Rule in the Official Journal of the European Union as Commison Regulation (EC) No. 633/2007. |

ICAO ATN IPS (1/7/08) |

01/07/2008 EUROCONTROL launches validation of the ICAO ATN IPS to support the delivery of ICAO Document 9896 "Manual for the ATN using IPS Standards and Protocols". It will demonstrate the interoperability of ATN applications between mobile users (Aircraft) and ground ATN/IPS infrastructure (several ANSP's) using Mobile IPv6 standards. |

ETIC 3.2.1 released (5/5/08) |

ETIC 3.2.1 has been released to all licenced ETIC users. It allows technical staff to verify their implementations of the Flight Message Transfer Protocol and the FDE ICD Part 1 to support OLDI (On-Line Data Interchange) communications. |
